40 Year Anniversary of Assassination of Fred Hampton
On December 4, 1969, People’s Law Office members were called to the scene of the police murder of Black Panther leaders Fred Hampton and Mark Clark and the office embarked on a 13 year struggle for justice in what is one of the most notorious examples of wanton official violence in the history of Chicago. On the 40th anniversary, a book written by one of those members, lawyer Jeffrey Haas, documents the evidence uncovered by the PLO - - - evidence that establishes that the murders were part of an FBI conspiracy to assassinate Hampton and destroy the Black Panther Party - - - as well as the office’s struggle, against great odds, to expose that conspiracy.
