Torture Victim Ronald Kitchen Files Lawsuit Against Burge and Daley

Together with Northwestern’s MacArthur Justice Center, attorneys from People’s Law Office filed suit today on behalf of Ronald Kitchen. Kitchen spent 21 years in prison, 13 of them on death row as a result of a false confession that was tortured out of him. In addition to naming Jon Burge and other officers under Burge’s command that tortured Kitchen, the suit also names Mayor Daley as a defendant because he was Cook County State’s Attorney at the time of the torture.
Kitchen was released last year and declared innocent of the charges.
